The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, NATO, has condemned what it called a dangerous violation of Estonian airspace by Russian fighter jets, labelling it part of a broader pattern of reckless behaviour. The incident occurredon Friday, when three Russian MiG-31s reportedly crossed into Estonian airspace over the Gulf of Finland. At an emergency UN Security Council meeting requested by Estonia, several NATO members warned of potential military responses to future breaches. Estonia presented radar data and images showing the armed jets in its airspace for 12 minutes before interception. British and American officials stressed NATO’s commitment to defend its territory. Meanwhile, Russia denied the violation, insisting the aircraft remained in international airspace. Moscow accused Europe of spreading misinformation, further escalating tensions between the two sides.
