Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) has flagged a deeply concerning surge in violence, targeted attacks, and workplace discrimination against Christians across Pakistan. Fact-finding teams documented multiple recent cases in the Faisalabad District, highlighting a disturbing lack of security and justice for vulnerable and marginalized workers.
Recent incidents detailed in HRFP’s report include:
  • Faisalabad Murder: On May 31, 2026, a Christian sanitary worker was brutally murdered in his home by an assailant wielding a sharp-edged weapon. Two of his relatives were seriously injured attempting to protect him, and the perpetrator remains at large.
  • Lethal Dispute: On April 26, 2026, a Christian laborer named Shahzad Masih was fatally shot in Faisalabad following a verbal dispute related to religious discussions.
  • Systemic Labor Abuse: The human rights group also noted a pattern of extreme workplace discrimination, harassment, and unsafe conditions targeting Christian laborers and sanitary workers.
HRFP is urgently calling on authorities to strengthen workplace safety regulations, ensure fair and transparent investigations into violence against marginalized communities, and guarantee equal legal protection regardless of religion.
