A Ukrainian drone attack struck a Russian oil terminal in St Petersburg today, with Russian authorities claiming that air defence systems intercepted dozens of drones over the city and surrounding areas. St Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said the attack targeted the Kirovsky district on the Baltic Sea.
He added that Russian air defences shot down 72 Ukrainian drones over the country’s second-largest city and the neighbouring region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the operation as part of Ukraine’s long-range sanctions against Russia. He said, Ukrainian forces had targeted the port’s oil infrastructure as well as a military facility on Kronstadt Island, located off the coast of St Petersburg.
Meanwhile, the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula has also suffered from heavy strikes, causing local authorities to suspend gasoline sales to civilians. Moscow-installed Governor Sergei Aksyonov said Ukrainian attack today killed one person and injured two others, including a 10-year-old child.
