The headquarters of UN-designated terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed in Pakistan’s Bahawalpur, which was damaged in strikes carried out by India under Operation Sindoor last year, has reportedly been rebuilt, according to media reports.
JeM facility reportedly refurbished
According to images and intelligence inputs cited in several media reports, the Markaz Subhanallah facility, which was badly damaged in India’s strikes last year, has been refurbished with new plaster, paint and polished marble.
The central hall of the facility, which was damaged in the strikes, has reportedly been repaired, with craters filled and the structure refurbished. The facility, which had suffered extensive damage, now appears to have been restored for regular use by JeM, according to the IANS reports.
Pakistan reportedly provided funds for reconstruction
According to IANS, several media reports citing intelligence inputs have claimed that the Pakistani establishment provided around Rs 25 crore in cash instalments to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) for the reconstruction of its headquarters.
Of this amount, around Rs 11 crore was reportedly allocated for rebuilding the central hall.
The structures adjoining the main complex, including Madrasa Al-Sabir, described in reports as an indoctrination centre, and residential quarters used by JeM commanders, were also damaged during Operation Sindoor.
These structures have reportedly been cleared or demolished, with new construction taking place at the site, reported IANS.
Bahawalpur facility was targeted during Operation Sindoor
The Bahawalpur facility was among the sites targeted by India during Operation Sindoor, launched in May last year in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
India targeted Pakistan-based terror infrastructure, including facilities in Muridke and Bahawalpur, in a coordinated operation involving the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.
The operation, conducted on May 6 and 7, involved the firing of 24 missiles that struck nine terror facilities across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), according to Indian officials. The strikes reportedly killed around 70 terrorists.
India targeted terror facilities in Pakistan
India said only verified terror camps were targeted during the operation, including the Lashkar-e-Taiba headquarters in Muridke and key facilities in Bahawalpur, which have been identified as centres linked to extremist training and indoctrination.
Operation Sindoor was described by India as a significant demonstration of its military and strategic capabilities, involving both military and non-military measures.
Operation followed Pahalgam terror attack
India launched Operation Sindoor following the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Indian authorities, Pakistan-backed attackers allegedly singled out victims after asking about their religion and reportedly forced them to recite the Islamic kalima to identify non-Muslims.
The attack killed 25 tourists and a local pony ride operator who attempted to save the tourists.
