Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia remains in critical condition at a Dhaka hospital as her family and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) prepare for a possible medical transfer abroad. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the 80-year-old opposition leader is in the Coronary Care Unit at Evercare Hospital under the supervision of a medical board. Zia, who suffers from cardiac complications, liver cirrhosis and kidney problems, was admitted after doctors detected a chest infection. A BNP spokesperson said preparations are underway for an air ambulance to take her to London once she is cleared to travel. Physicians, however, say she is not yet fit to fly.
