In the US, multiple casualties are feared after a small aircraft crashed in northeast Philadelphia last night, sparking a large fire and prompting a major emergency response. The crash occurred near the busy Roosevelt Mall in the residential neighbourhood of Rhawnhurst, police reported.
A fireball ignited several fires on the ground, with at least one house and multiple cars engulfed in flames. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro stated on social media that all necessary resources are being mobilised to respond to the crash.
The incident comes just two days after a collision between a passenger jet and a military helicopter near Washington’s Reagan National Airport, which claimed 67 lives in the deadliest US air disaster in nearly 25 years.
