Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan today held talks with Australian Navy Chief Vice Admiral Matthew Buckley in Canberra, with a focus on further strengthening maritime cooperation between India and Australia.
The meeting took place at the Russell Office, the administrative headquarters of the Australian Defence Force. According to the Indian Navy, the two Chiefs reviewed the progress of bilateral naval cooperation and discussed ways to enhance interoperability and operational engagement, including through a series of joint naval exercises planned for 2027. The Indian Navy, in a social media post, said the discussions also focused on expanding engagement between the two navies and identifying further opportunities for cooperation in the maritime domain.
Admiral Swaminathan also met Admiral Mark Hammond, Chief of the Australian Defence Force, in Canberra. The discussions focused on the growing strategic depth of the India-Australia defence partnership, implementation of the Maritime Security Collaboration Roadmap, and ways to further strengthen interoperability and cooperation across the maritime domain.
