Major US stock indices settled lower yesterday. The Nasdaq Composite index dropped 0.24 per cent to close at 25,298. The index registered its fifth consecutive losing session as investors rotated out of key technology stocks and into more defensive areas of the market. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.1 per cent to end at 51 thousand 876 while the S&P 500 dropped marginally to settle at 7 thousand 354. For the week, the S&P fell two per cent and the Nasdaq lost 4.6 per cent, while the Dow outperformed, registering a gain of 0.6 per cent.
