More than 500 recovered addicts in Kabul have graduated from vocational training courses.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs stated that to date, 50,000 individuals across the country have benefited from these courses in various fields.

Rahimullah Sarrah, head of the Ministry’s vocational skills department, stated that the ministry has created job opportunities for addicts to promote skills and employment. After graduation, necessary support will be provided to these individuals.

Rahimullah Sarrah said, “Today, we are witnessing the graduation ceremony of more than 500 people who have been trained in five different fields and are now ready to contribute to society. The coordination committee of the ministry is working to ensure that our brothers’ businesses continue to grow and that they are supported.”

Meanwhile, some of the recently graduated individuals have called on the authorities to create more job opportunities for them.

Taj Mohammad, a recovered addict, told: “I plan that once I leave here, I will open a shop to support my children.”

Shamsuddin, another recovered addict, said: “I hope that when I leave here, I can start a business because I have learned some vocational skills.”

The Islamic Emirate began the process of collecting and treating addicts nationwide in 2022, with many addicts identifying unemployment as one of the primary causes of their addiction.
