Ahmedabad plane crash update: One body and a few body parts were recovered on Friday morning from the site in Ahmedabad where an Air India plane crashed on Thursday afternoon. Over 200 DNA samples have been collected for proper identification of the dead bodies. Five mortal remains were handed over to family members after post-mortem. Meanwhile, investigation is underway into the possible causes of what led to the Flight AI-171 Crash.

The flight, carrying 242 people, was flying from Ahmedabad to London. It crashed near Ahmedabad airport, shortly after taking off, leaving 241 on board dead and also leading to several casualties on the ground as it went down on a medical college hostel mess.

Investigators are exploring four theories regarding the Air India plane crash, including a bird strike, double-engine malfunction, fuel contamination, and overloading. They are also scrutinising maintenance records to determine if the aircraft missed any repairs or scheduled maintenance.

Both the flight data recorder and radar data are being closely studied. Testimonies from the lone survivor are proving to be crucial. The survivor mentioned that within a minute of take-off, it seemed the aircraft had lost power, suggesting that something might have cut off power to the engines. The aircraft then accelerated, lurched forward, and crashed.

Technical data and survivor testimony are integral to the investigation. It’s also critical to accurately estimate the full fuel load, passenger count, and baggage, especially in hot conditions where thin air can affect avionics.

PM Modi Visits Crash Site And Civil Hospital

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Ahmedabad early this morning and visited the crash site. He then visited the civil hospital where he met Ramesh Vishvakumar, the lone survivor of the plane crash and also the people injured on land.

“Visited the crash site in Ahmedabad today. The scene of devastation is saddening. Met officials and teams working tirelessly in the aftermath. Our thoughts remain with those who lost their loved ones in this unimaginable tragedy,” the Prime Minister wrote on X.
