It’s a new year, but Pakistan seems to be falling back on an old and familiar playbook. On Thursday, several pro-Pakistani social media accounts shared misleading “before” and “after” images of strikes at the Amritsar airbase in Punjab and a BrahMos facility in Beas during the hostilities last year. However, independent experts have busted the claims using widely available satellite imagery, which shows intact structures and routine maintenance work at the sites.
It exposes a familiar narrative propounded by Pakistan since May last year, after being pummelled by India during Operation Sindoor, under which nine terror camps and 11 vital military airbases were struck. However, unlike Pakistan, India has followed its claims by releasing before and after images of sites destroyed by it during the operation, which was a response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
