Militants carried out a coordinated attack on the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters located on Saddar Main Road in Pakistan’s Peshawar on Monday, triggering two back-to-back explosions and forcing an intense gunbattle inside the compound. Initial reports suggest two security personnel were killed in the attack.
According to initial intelligence assessments, two explosions were reported — one suicide blast at the main FC gate and another IED detonation at the nearby motorcycle stand. The twin blasts created enough chaos for three to five militants to storm the facility, engaging security personnel in close-quarters combat.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — specifically its faction Jamatul Ahrar — claimed responsibility for the coordinated assault on the FC Headquarters. In a statement circulated through its channels, the group said the attack was carried out by the “Khulfa-e-Rashideen Ishtishadi Kandak,” a dedicated suicide squad within the faction.
Reports confirm two security personnel have been killed in the exchange of fire. Additionally, four people — including two security officials — sustained injuries and were quickly evacuated to a nearby hospital.
Security officials say they have secured the outer perimeter of the installation, blocking all access routes leading to Saddar and adjacent areas. Reinforcements were deployed, and the compound remained in lockdown as troops attempted to clear the interior of the building. Two attackers were neutralised.
The attack comes amid a renewed wave of militant activity in Pakistan. Just days earlier, on November 11, a suicide bomber targeted a police vehicle outside the district court in Islamabad, killing 12 people and injuring 27. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), or one of its factions, claimed the attack, demanding the implementation of Islamic law — a demand that has heightened fears about increasing insurgent boldness.
