Members of the Chaman Protest Movement, in a recent gathering, said that Pakistan’s domestic and foreign policies have failed, citing the country’s recent security challenges.

According to the movement’s members, Pakistan has not only failed its own people but has also adopted policies that violate the principles of good neighborliness, worsening its problems with neighboring countries day by day.

Azam Khan, a leader of the Chaman Protest Movement, said during the gathering: “Their domestic and foreign policies have failed. They are not patriotic enough to treat others with brotherhood. All neighbors have complaints. They create problems and then pretend to be innocent.”

The members warned that if their demands are not met, they will block all transport routes after Eid al-Fitr. Their main demand is the reopening of the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing without passport and visa requirements.

Ghousullah, another member of the movement, said: “Why is there silence on the movement of people? They hold staged jirgas—jirgas for their power and resources—but no one speaks up about this issue.”

Sadiq Khan Achakzai, spokesperson for the Chaman Protest Movement, also said: “The only demand of this movement and its protestors is to remove the passport and visa requirements.”

Protests in Chaman have been ongoing for over 17 months.

Pakistan, which is currently facing a new wave of insecurity, has not yet responded to the latest statements from the Chaman Protest Movement.
