The navies of India and Indonesia are conducting a significant bilateral naval exercise, “A Shakti 2025.” This naval exercise is taking place in India. Held in Visakhapatnam, the navies of both countries will practice a range of complex maritime operations to enhance strategic coordination.
The exercise will continue till October 17
These include helicopter operations, air defense exercises, weapon firing drills, and military exercises such as visit, board, search and seizure. The exercise between the Indian and Indonesian navies began on October 14 and will continue until October 17 in Visakhapatnam.
Fifth edition of ‘Samudra Shakti 2025’
It is noteworthy that the Indian Navy is hosting the fifth edition of the joint bilateral maritime exercise ‘Samudra Shakti 2025’. The exercise involves INS Kavaratti, an anti-submarine warship of the Eastern Fleet, under the aegis of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Command.
Harbour phase between the two forces
, while Indonesian Navy warship KRI John Lee (with a helicopter) is participating in the exercise. KRI John Lee was warmly welcomed by the Indian Navy upon her arrival at Visakhapatnam.
Various activities are being conducted during the Harbour Phase to strengthen friendship and professional coordination between the two Navies, including cross-deck visits, joint Yoga sessions, friendly sports competitions and professional exchanges between Subject Matter Experts (SMEE).

, including complex helicopter-based operations, as well as air defence exercises at sea, the Navy said.
Exercises like search and seizure of suspects
are to be conducted during this period. Exercise ‘Samudra Shakti’ is a major bilateral initiative between India and Indonesia aimed at enhancing interoperability, strengthening mutual understanding and exchanging best naval practices.
The Navy believes that it also underlines the shared commitment of both countries to maintain peace, stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
