Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday linked India’s “Viksit Bharat” vision with the United States’ “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) slogan, introducing the term “Make India Great Again” (MIGA).
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi stated that India and the US have formed a “MEGA” partnership to drive prosperity for both nations.
“President Trump often talks about MAGA. In India, we are working towards a Viksit Bharat, which in the American context translates into MIGA. Together, India and the US have a MEGA partnership for prosperity!” he posted.
In another post, PM Modi described his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House as a key step in strengthening bilateral ties.
“An excellent meeting with POTUS Donald Trump at the White House. Our talks will add momentum to the India-US friendship,” he wrote.
Speaking at a joint press conference, PM Modi noted that while Americans are familiar with Trump’s MAGA slogan, Indians are working towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. He emphasized the growing energy partnership between the two nations.
“The people of America are well aware of President Trump’s motto, ‘MAGA—Make America Great Again.’ The people of India, too, are focusing on heritage and development as they move towards Viksit Bharat 2047. In American terms, this is ‘Make India Great Again’—MIGA. When America and India work together, MAGA plus MIGA becomes a ‘mega partnership for prosperity,’” he said.
PM Modi also announced a goal to increase bilateral trade to USD 500 billion by 2030, with teams from both nations working on a mutually beneficial trade agreement.
He added that India and the US are advancing in joint development, production, and technology transfer, highlighting their role in shaping a better world.
PM Modi is among the first world leaders to visit the US following President Trump’s inauguration.
