EAM Jaishankar & Bangladesh Adviser to Hold Talks at Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat

Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is likely to hold a bilateral talk with Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain is on the sideline of the Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat being held from February 16-17.

Oman’s Foreign Minister and India’s External Affairs Minister have invited Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser to participate in the conference, to be jointly organised by India and Oman’s foreign ministries, Bangladesh Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said at the weekly media briefing yesterday.

 

As per media reports, in response to a question, the spokesperson said the agenda of the bilateral talks is yet to be finalised.

 

The 8th Indian Ocean Conference is being organised by the India Foundation in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman on February 16-17, 2025, in Muscat, Oman. The theme for this year’s conference is Voyages to New Horizons of Maritime Partnership.

 

The Indian Ocean Conference was started by the India Foundation in 2016 in Singapore, with participation from 30 countries. In the last 8 years, the conference has emerged as the flagship consultative forum for countries in the region over regional affairs. The conference endeavours to bring critical states and principal maritime partners of the region together on a common platform to deliberate upon the prospects of regional cooperation for Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
