All 6 Indian tourists stranded in Nepal’s remote Upper Dolpa region following heavy snowfall have been safely rescued by helicopter and brought to Dunai. The District Administration Office, Dolpa, has confirmed that all 6 tourists are in normal condition.

The rescue operation was carried out this morning, with the helicopter taking off at around 6:30 AM. The 2 women tourists were brought to Dunai first, followed by the remaining 4 in a subsequent flight.

The group comprised 4 men and 2 women. They were stranded in the Danigad area of Ward No. 8 of Shey-Phoksundo Rural Municipality in Dolpa district.

The tourists had visited the famous Shey-Phoksundo Lake and were travelling towards Upper Dolpa when heavy snowfall disrupted their journey. Several days of continuous snowfall blocked trekking routes in the high-altitude region, leaving the group unable to move ahead.

The remote terrain and difficult weather conditions also posed challenges for the rescue operation. Communication with the stranded tourists was difficult due to the lack of mobile network coverage in the area. However, authorities were able to coordinate the rescue through security personnel deployed in the region.

The District Administration Office and security agencies coordinated the evacuation efforts to bring all 6 tourists safely to Dunai.

The successful rescue has brought relief to the tourists after they remained stranded in the snowbound Himalayan region.
