Deputy Governor Dr Neelam Dhungana Timsina has been appointed as acting governor of Nepal Rastra Bank for the time being. The Rastra Bank has been without a governor since the end of outgoing Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari’s term on April 6.
Amid accusations of delay in the appointment of a governor due to a disagreement between two ruling alliance parties, government spokesperson Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has confirmed that a governor recommendation committee has been formed under the coordination of Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel. The committee will recommend three names for the post of governor and the government will choose one among the three to lead the central bank.
