ISRO Set for Landmark 100th Launch Tomorrow with GSLV F-15 Carrying NVS-02 Satellite

The Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO, is preparing for its landmark 100th launch from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. At 06:23 hrs tomorrow morning, the GSLV F-15 rocket will lift off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR, carrying the NVS-02 navigation satellite into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit.

The NVS-02 satellite is part of the second-generation Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system, which is India’s independent regional navigation satellite system designed to provide accurate Position, Velocity, and Timing (PVT) service to users in India as well as to regions extending about 1500 km beyond Indian land mass. GSLV-F15 is the 8th operational flight of GSLV with an indigenous cryogenic stage and the 100th launch from India’s spaceport, Sriharikota. Speaking to Akashvani News, Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman, ISRO, said (voice bite). Earlier today, the ISRO Chairman visited the Tirumala Temple to pray for the success of the mission.
