Just hours after a ceasefire agreement was reached between India and Pakistan, fresh tensions erupted following reported violations by Pakistan, prompting strong responses from both India and China. Shortly after reports of drone sightings in Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat — flagged by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on X — Pakistan’s Foreign Office released a statement quoting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirming Beijing’s support for Islamabad.
In a telephonic conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Wang said China would continue to “stand firmly” with Pakistan in defending its “sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national independence.”
